Hi guys,
first of all sorry to make this post english but I moved to the NL a few months ago and my Dutch is not good enough for the moment! Don't worry I am working on it
I was thinking about changing an automatic 3 gears gearbox to a manual 5 gears one on an old-timer from 67. The technical part of the project is not really my concern, however I am not really aware of the law here and I had difficulties finding the details online.
I thought that if I make this change I should have to get the car re-registered or re-inspected by the authorities but I have no idea how to find who I should contact and also the cost of the inspection + paper work that would go with that.
If any of you went through the same process or knows how to help, that would be truly appreciated.
Cheers,
Will

Re: Gearbox change from auto to manual
I think a visit to the RDW is enough to change the registration form Automatic to manual gearbox. But I don't know for sure.
Maybe the classic mustang / car companies can help you. Also because you are not a native speaker so ik can get a little difficult at the RDW (dutch DMV)

Re: Gearbox change from auto to manual
There's no need for any re-inspection or re-registration of your '67 if the transmission type is not registered in the vehicle documents.
However if it is registered in the vehicle documents, they (the RDW) will change it on request which is just a simple administrative action, nothing more, nothing less.
I converted a few from auto to both four and five speed manual, never had a problem.
Michel.
