Vandaag zat ik wat op de site van Ford Racing te smurfen,
toen mijn oog plots op volgende pagina viel:

In het menu staat er nog 2010 Cobra Jet, maar op de page zelf hebben ze het weldegelijk over een 2012:

Als ik het goed interpreteer, komt die dus ongeveer samen met de nieuwe BOSS 302 uit, maar dan gebaseerd op een aangeblazen 5.4 blok (shelby anyone?).
Ben wel eens benieuwd naar de definitieve specs!

2012 Mustang Cobra Jet Product Assumptions:
• The 2012 Mustang Cobra Jet is planned as mostly carryover of the 2010 model as a turn-key race car
• Will likely produce them in a new exterior paint color. Suggest any current production colors in your comments.
• For the purpose of vehicle pricing with the proposed engine combinations, we are including a race-prepped automatic transmission as part of the Cobra Jet pricing
• Performance in relation to each car's Stock Class will be consistent with the levels of the 2008/2010 Cobra Jet's.

Potential 2012 Cobra Jet Engine offerings:

• 5.0L naturally aspirated DOHC V8: This engine is based on the engine in the 2011 Mustang GT. Some GT owners have already gone 10's with highly modified street cars. This engine is totally new and will be around for many years. It will likely be classified in "E" or "F" for NHRA Stock Eliminator and will run competitively. This is the future of Mustang performance and can make for a fast car without the cost or complexity of a supercharger.

• 5.0L Supercharged DOHC V8: Same as above engine but with Ford Racing supercharger kit. Expected to run in B Stock.

• 5.4L DOHC with 2.3L TVS supercharger: Similar to 2008 and 2010 engine with new aluminum block. This engine is legal for NHRA Stock and Super Stock classes. Fits within the 2.3L supercharger size limit for NMRA/NMCA heads-up classes. Competitors have achieved low- to mid-9's with this engine in NHRA competition.

• 5.4L DOHC with 4.0L Whipple: This engine is a carryover from 2010 and competitors have run high 8's in NHRA competition. More limited in where it can run as it is not legal in NHRA Stock Eliminator. A very powerful engine with high end components.

kunnen ze niet beter gewoon effe rustig wachten tot we 2011 gehad hebben voor dat we nu al met 2012 beginnen.
misschien zijn er in 2011 al 2014 modellen bekend... als we de geleerde moeten geloven hebben we dan wel andere dingen aan ons hoofd

It seems like there is a factory Mustang for everyone these days. There's the V-6 version for those who want a lot of power without high insurance premiums and high fuel-economy penalties, the GT for those who want V-8 power, the Shelby GT500 for those who want even more power, and the upcoming Boss, for those who want a track car. And now, Ford is readying a Mustang specifically for drag-strip duty.


The 2012 Cobra Jet will be available directly from the Ford Racing catalog and it is purpose-built to compete in the NHRA Stock and Super Stock racing classes. The Cobra Jet is essentially a race-ready drag-strip car straight off the showroom floor.


The 2010 Cobra Jet had fully race-prepped transmissions (a choice of manual or automatic), drag-racing specific shocks and springs, manual steering, manual brakes, and a certified roll cage.


For 2012, the list includes a 5.4-liter supercharged engine with an aluminum block and Manley H-Beam rods, black anodized wheels from Weld Racing, upgraded brakes, and a revised rear-suspension setup that includes revised spring rates. An available Whipple supercharger will help propel the car to an eight-second ET.

ik ga ook eens kijken of ik zo'n cobra embleem als mooie sticker kan laten maken, vindt het eigenlijk wel heel erg dik zo.. :twisted:

Ik snap niet waarom die Amerikanen een auto altijd zo vol moeten "plakken" met strepen, slangen en andere meuk. Net of dat wat uitmaakt qua performance......
