nog een aanrader: het boek Mustang Forty Years, 384 pagina's, Engels geschreven, zeer gedetailleerde informatie over hoe de Mustang is ontstaan, maar ook bijv. de Shelby (wat nog bijna een MG geweest was..)

is al een tijdje uit (2003) dus sommigen zullen m ongetwijfeld al hebben!

Tsja straks alweer 50 jaar bestaan Mustang, zal wel feest worden over de hele werled bij alle clubs etc.

Dat onderste filmpje is zalig ! Nog nooit gezien. Knap gefilmd voor die tijd. Wat me opviel:

- allen waren 6 cilinders
- non production grille
- non production plaatje voor de manuele bak
- non production power brake pedal

Wie zouden de chauffeurs geweest zijn ? Die zouden nog eens een first hand experience kunnen vertellen.

Mustang had zijn europese film debuut in de Franse film 'Un homme et une Femme'. Iemand van de PR was bevriend met een Franse regisseur die destijds net bezig met een film was. Ford heeft toen materiaal gegeven, en er is nog nieuw materiaal geschoten om in de film te gebruiken. Het is een combinatie van zwart-wit en kleur, omdat de meeste promofilmpjes van Ford in kleur waren, echter de regisseur het budget niet had om een full color film te maken. Na de film steeg de aanvraag van de Mustang flink in Frankrijk. Mede dankzij deze film is de Mustang destijds ook erg populair geworden in europa e.o.

Hey Frank, als je over "Un Homme Et Une Femme" zit ik natuurlijk gelijk rechtop. De foto's zijn door tig wijzigingen in forumstructuur en servers en zo verdwenen, maar in 2005 schreef ik er hier al iets over:

Voor de moderne videoclipkijker zal de film en zijn tempo tegenvallen, maar hij heeft een sfeer die je tegenwoordig niet meer tegenkomt en als tijdsdocument is hij onverslaanbaar. Ik noemde zeven jaar geleden al de scene met de pompbediende in de nacht, nu zit er iemand achter kogelvrij glas ...

Franse vrienden zijn er ook niet over uit, maar het lijkt of de echte filmauto's niet meer bestaan. Regisseur Claude Lelouch reed laatst wel mee in de Traversée de Paris met een replica van de filmauto:
